Vote For Joe Morrison
In the March 5th election, one very important contest
will be the race for the Loudon County commission, 5th district seat (A)
currently held by Joe Morrison. Joe gained the confidence
of the commission for the temporary appointment, to the seat, after the
death of long time commissioner Harold Duff. Morrison was appointed to
the seat in December of 2022. While on commission, Joe has shown he has
true conservative values and proves that with his votes. He has voted
repeatedly in support of measures that will protect the 5th district and
the county from mass over-development and other issues, for the good of
Loudon County. I have personally known Joe for more than twenty-five years. From coaching at the Ruritan Park to supporting conservative candidate and causes. County commission has come a long way over the last few years in taking actions to save and protect the rural nature of Loudon County and opposing issues detrimental to the county. And there are more important issues coming down the pike where we can make even better changes to policy that further protect the county. Joe Morrison has already proven he has the 5th district and the county at heart. I would personally ask the folks in the 5th district to vote for Joe Morrison for Loudon County Commission, 5th district seat (A). Morrison is being challenged by Marty Fugate. I have also known Marty for several years and have always found him to be a nice guy. Fugate owns two used car dealerships in Lenoir City and has an insurance business. Marty ran for Loudon County Court Clerk back in 2018, but lost to Carrie McKelvey. Fugate was listed as a host committee member for the Re-Elect Tony Aikens campaign kickoff back in September. Most recently, a flyer was placed in mailboxes in areas of the 5th district stating that Tony Aikens is asking people to vote for Marty Fugate. Aikens has also been calling folks telling them to Vote for Fugate. He is also listed as a board member of the Lenoir City Housing Authority. Members appointed by mayor Aikens.
You may remember, back in the 2022 county commission election, Aikens strongly supported three candidates in the county commission election, Julia Hurley, Eddie Simpson and Mark Matlock. Fortunately for Loudon County, all three lost and lost badly. I do not know what the relationship between Aikens and Fugate is but it's obvious that Aikens wants Marty Fugate elected to county commission for some reason. No one wants the Tony Aikens influence on county government. We've already seen what he does when he's in charge of anything. Wonder what Aikens has against Joe Morrison? It's critically important that voters know the candidates, their affiliates and where they stand on the issues. |
