Woman pleads guilty to robbery
at Lenoir City Walmart After robbing the store, she left with a man
and fled to Louisiana, where they were apprehended and charged
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Louisiana woman pleaded guilty on Monday to a robbery that happened last June at Walmart in Lenoir City.
On June
20, 2023, 38-year-old Fredricka Johnson and 37-year-old Joshua
Raby, both of Baton Rouge, went inside the Lenoir City Walmart
off Hwy 321, according to Russell Johnson, the Ninth Judicial
District Attorney General.
Inside the store, officials said Johnson went to a checkout line with a cash register while Raby went to the clothing section. When the cashier opened the register, Johnson told Raby over the phone to fire a gun he had brought inside, and Raby fired eight times into the air. Customers and employees then fled the store, officials said, and Johnson took $2,200 in cash from the register.
Officials said both Johnson
and Raby left the store and fled to Louisiana, where they
were later apprehended and charged with armed robbery. The
gun used in the incident was found in their car, and
ballistics testing by TBI determined it to be the same gun
used in the shooting at Walmart. On Friday, March 15, Johnson pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, a felony that carries a sentence of 8-12 years in jail. Her sentencing is scheduled for May 21. Raby has a court date scheduled for April 15. |
