News Herald Arrest Report
Woman charged following harassment
A Lenoir City woman is facing an assault charge after
she threatened to harm an assistant manager at a Lenoir City
apartment complex off Kelly Lane.
According to a report from Lenoir City Police Sgt.
Lynette Ladd, on or about April 1, Kayla Marie McCraw, 22, and three
others approached the female manager while she was taking out the
trash, cursing her and making threats.
“(The manager) reported that McCraw followed her and
was threatening her until she walked into (the) apartment,” Ladd
wrote in a report. “McCraw stated to (the manager) that she had one
foot in the grave and she should go ahead and kill herself, while
another female agreed and stated she should kill herself so she
didn’t have to do it.”
After the incident, the manager began having
chest pains and was transported to the hospital the following
day.
McCraw, who was arrested Thursday, was charged
with assault and released on $1,500 bond.
Argument leads to knife attack
Responding Friday to a fight at a residence off
Kirkland Lane in Greenback, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office
Deputy Brandon Pesterfield met a male victim.
The victim had a laceration on his hand caused by
a knife that Jessica Gilpatrick possessed. Pesterfield found
Gilpatrick inside the building, and she claimed a “white knife
with a long blade” was beside the bed.
“I asked the offender what happened, to which she
stated her and the victim had been arguing all day and he cut
off her power,” Pesterfield wrote in a report. “She stated she
went up to the door and had the knife for intimidation and laid
it down on the porch railing.”
The victim allegedly came through the door, at
which point Gilpatrick grabbed the knife off the railing “due to
being afraid of falling back into it.” The victim cut himself
after trying to grab Gilpatrick’s arm.
“I spoke with the victim who stated the offender
came to the back door and began yelling and screaming,”
Pesterfield wrote in a report. “When he went to the back door
she was standing on the porch with the knife in hand. The victim
stated he reached out for the object and that’s when it cut his
hand.”
Gilpatrick, 35, Greenback, was charged with
aggravated assault and held on $5,000 bond.
