LOUDON - A 4-year-old boy died Friday afternoon when his mother's
car accidentally ran over him, authorities said. Sean Collins was
riding in the back seat of his mother's Dodge Durango around 3:15
p.m. when she pulled into her driveway on Watkins Road in the
Corinth community, Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider said.
The car had almost stopped when the boy apparently unstrapped
himself and tried to climb out of his car seat, the sheriff said.
The boy fell to the pavement, and the car's rear wheel ran over him.
Rescuers failed to revive him at the scene. An ambulance carried the boy to Fort Sanders Loudon Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead. The mother won't face any charges, the sheriff said
