What's It Pay - 2024
With the Lenoir City election coming in November, and
qualifying petitions becoming available today, 6/17, through August
15th, folks might be interested in what elected officials make in the
city. Below is the most recent pay information on the city officials
who's seats will be on the November ballot.
Of course, the biggest payday comes as mayor. Shortly after Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, retired from the county sheriff's department, he was able to get the council to vote him a 1,000% pay raise. He tried his best to keep it a secret but the word got out pretty quickly. Since then, he has been able to get his pay to over a hundred thousand dollars plus, and with all the perks and benefits he's now over $142,000.00 per year. Not a bad gig if you can get it. Council member positions aren't quite as lucrative but still pretty nice to have. You can see below. The treasures/recorder job is a pretty good gig too at nearly $88,000.00 plus benefits. No qualifications are required and anyone who lives in Loudon County is eligible to run for that office. Incumbent, Jimmy Wilburn, does not live within the city limits. So if there are any city residents out there considering getting into the city election to help the residents of Lenoir City, while you're helping, you can put a little dough in your pocket, have a travel stipend and get great health insurance to boot, at the same time. Nothing will ever change in Lenoir City until something changes in Lenoir City. BE THE CHANGE!
