Volunteers Needed

Some folks, especially those new to Loudon County, may not realize that the county has four volunteer fire departments to respond to fires, falls, crashes, water rescues and all other types emergency needs.

The four departments are independent, all volunteer operations. However, some years ago, they all entered into mutual aid agreements, this means when a serious call comes into the 911 dispatch center, all four departments respond. This brings an unprecedented amount of manpower and equipment to any emergency.

In the lower end of the county is Philadelphia Volunteer Fire Department, South of the river is the Greenback Volunteer Fire Department and in Tellico Village is the Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department.

Loudon County is honored and proud to support all four departments. This years contribution is $100,000.00 to three of the departments and $140,000.00 to the Loudon County Fire Rescue, the designated county fire department. And for the first time, the county has committed an additional $540,000.00 to be used of all departments and the county as a whole to supply all four departments with additional equipment as needed to the benefit of all.

The combined fire departments do a stellar job fulfilling their missions.

Like any other volunteer organizations,  all four can always use more help. If you're someone with some time and a desire to contribute to your community, you might consider joining up with one of these outstanding departments.

Below are links to each department where you can find more information and contact information.
