The Vaults
In another courthouse update, I wanted to show the
vault doors. There are three massive concrete vaults in the
courthouse They're all supposedly from the original 1871
construction. The vaults are all two and three foot thick concrete,
meant to be fire proof. And they worked when the courthouse burned. It's
just hard to imagine how people in the 1870's built such massive
structures. But they are really something to see. And by the way, the insurance costs to date on rebuilding the courthouse, including all the associated costs of rentals, document cleaning and so on, $9,190,436.00. And not finished yet. Projected reopening date, May 2025.
