News Herald Arrest Report
Trespasser resists arrest after firing gun in air STAFF REPORTS On the morning of Tuesday, June 10, Deputy William McCall responded to a call from East Coast Tellico Parkway in regards to a possible trespassing. Upon arrival, McCall made contact with the property owner, who reported a repeated pattern of incidents with a neighbor, Cody Hamilton. The night before the property owner said that Hamilton was in his head screaming profanities and firing a gun while yelling “shots fired!” After deeming it safe to exit outside, the property owner went to inspect her home’s exterior — reportedly discovering one of the property cameras on the rear side of the house to be at the end of the driveway rather than its initial position a quarter mile away. The victim reportedly was still able to retrieve some video evidence from the incident. While Hamilton’s full body was out of frame, a pair of brown cowboy boots with black electrical tape over the toes could clearly be seen, according to reports. The victim said that Loudon County deputies replied to a previous call made only an hour earlier — just as her husband was on his way to work. The story was similar … Hamilton reportedly was causing a disturbance by yelling obscenities and firing his weapon in the air. The property owner attempted to record the moment, but only managed to capture video of Hamilton from the waist down. The dispatch McCall responded to originated when the victim was in her garden, noticing 250 feet of cable fencing — that she uses to contain her horses — had been cut near the same area her broken camera originally was. The description she gave matched Hamilton’s-blue jeans with brown boots and black tape on the toe. She stated that the man was on her property without her consent and that she was seeking to imply trespassing. At this point, multiple officers tried to make contact with Hamiton in his home, who was heard inside but continuously refused to answer the door. Elsewhere, it was confirmed that Hamilton had a warrant for his arrest in Blount County for failing to appear in court in regards to a domestic assault charge. While at the rear of the residence with the victim and family, who were installing new cameras, Deputy McCall heard a loud “pop” believed to be a gunshot. Hamilton was spotted walking to his mailbox, but didn’t reach his destination before being intercepted by Cpl. Cody Bengel with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office and another officer. After a brief struggle, Hamilton was taken into custody. When he was transported to the jail, Hamilton was found to be wearing the same brown boots with black tape. He also refused treatment from EMS services after being detained by police. JUNE 9 Ryan Walter Den Dulk, 40, Loudon, was charged with driving under the influence and was released on $1,500 bond.
