Traffic stop results in meth charges

A Crossville man was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth after a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was found in a pickup truck he was driving Saturday on U.S. Highway 321 in Lenoir City.
Lenoir City Police Officer Riley Miller stopped a gray Ford Ranger at the Interstate 40 westbound ramp after the driver ignored a stop sign at Love’s Travel Stop when he entered onto Highway 321 and then failed to yield to other traffic.
Dakota Wayne Giles, 22, appeared extremely nervous, fidgety, and short spoken, Miller said in a report.

“While speaking with Giles, he stated that he did not have a valid license and stated that he may have a warrant out of Blount County,” Miller said in the report.

Dispatchers confirmed that Giles had a revoked license.
“When Giles stepped out of the vehicle, I noticed several empty ‘dime bags’ and what I believe was a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine,” Miller said. “When asked about the paraphernalia, Giles said he had some ‘dope’ in a glasses container on the driver’s side of the pickup.”
During a search of the vehicle, officers found 3.52 grams of a crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, a bong and glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, a blue glass pipe with marijuana residue and six empty “dime bags,” Miller said. There was also a green zipper pouch with nine needles and two cut straws in the bed of the truck. The bong and glass pipe were located on the passenger’s side under the feet of Rachel Garland, 41, Rockford.
Giles was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth and driving on revoked license and held on $19,000 bond.
Garland was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on $2,000 bond.
