Traffic stop results in drug
charges
A Ten
Mile man arrested after a traffic stop Jan. 25 had several
drugs in his possession.
Loudon County Sheriffs Office Deputy Clayton Jenkins and Sgt. Chris Jenkins stopped a vehicle on U.S. Highway 72 and talked with the driver, Arthur Abston, 47. After Abston exited the vehicle, Jenkins asked Abston to empty his pockets, revealing a baggie of Oxycodone pills. With probable cause, Jenkins then searched Abston and found another baggie containing Fentanyl. Abston was transported to Loudon County Jail, where he handed Jenkins a pipe used for crack cocaine that he had hidden in his underwear. Additionally, a marijuana joint and .5 grams of crack cocaine were found in his left and right shoe, respectively.
Abston was charged
with contraband in penal institution, two counts of
manufacture, sell, delivery and resale of a Schedule II
substance, two counts of simple possession/casual
exchange and possession of drug paraphernalia and held
on $255,000 bond.
