Traffic Plan and
Reminders: As we prepare to head back to school, we want to take a
moment to remind you of our traffic plan and procedures. Please
review all the information to help us make this as smooth as

this with any family members or grandparents who will be using the
traffic line for drop off and pick up.
We understand
that the beginning of the year traffic on our campus can be very
frustrating and that the initial wait times are long. Between NMS
and Eaton, we have approximately 1600 students with a small
percentage of those being bus riders. This year, both schools have
increased with enrollment, thus adding more cars to our lines in the
morning and afternoon. The first few weeks of school are always a
tough start due to all students learning new routines. This is
especially true for our new 5th graders to NMS and our
Kindergarteners at Eaton. Many of the smaller students still are
required to be buckled into child restraint systems and it does take
time for them to load and unload. Please know that we do our best to
dismiss all our students as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Safety is our number one goal in all aspects of our day, and we want
to make sure that everyone can arrive and leave safely. Please
remember that we load buses first at NMS and to double check the
traffic map and instructions below to make sure that you are
entering the correct line. The traffic map can be found on our
website at
www.northmiddle.org under the
“About Us” tab, labeled “Traffic Map”. Above all, please be patient
as we work to improve each day and to most importantly, get every
child home safely.
For arrival
at NMS: please pull forward as far as you can to the car in front of
you. Please make sure that your student(s) have all of their
belongings in their hands and ready to exit. Our goal is to unload
as many as we can at one time so that we can keep everyone moving in
the mornings. Our doors open at 7:15am. Students should not be
dropped off prior to that time.
Dismissal begins
at 3:05 with buses loading first, and then car loading begins at
3:08 after the buses move. All students must be picked up by 4:00pm.
All
parents/guardians must remain in the car line. Walk up check-outs
are not allowed and any students and that are early check-outs
should occur before 2:30pm. This helps with both safety and
efficiency in dismissal.
If you are
picking up at North ONLY, please enter the first entrance and follow
the line closest to NMS. It will direct you in front of our school,
allow you to pick up your NMS student, and direct you to exit behind
NMS and back out on to Hickory Creek Road.
If you are
picking up at NMS AND EES please enter the first entrance and drive
into the second line that runs in front of NMS that is closer to
Eaton Elementary School. This line will take you in front of NMS to
pick up your North student and then turn to go back in front of
Eaton to pick up your younger student. This line will then exit back
out onto HWY 321.
Parents that
pick-up at EES only will enter the second entrance on Hickory Creek,
come up behind NMS and pull directly to EES and exit out onto HWY
321.
