Total Disaster 23

As Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, continues his onslaught of mass over development, the numbers are down slightly. But with no consideration to schools, infrastructure or anything else, the building just keeps going.

The city has approved 5,012 new residential units in the last three years by plat or rezone, 2,051 apartments and rentals and 2,961 single family homes. This doesn't even include several smaller developments and individual builds. At the same time, they have taken no actions to address the impact these developments will have on life in the city, or the county for that matter. Of course, the biggest and most immediate impact will be on the schools. The county is already making plans for a new school on the upper end of the county to accommodate the growth. Other impacts are already being felt on roads, police, fire and utility infrastructures.

Councilman Kennedy has voted "NO" on the high density developments since being elected, but he can not do any thing alone. And the rest of the council rubber stamps anything Aikens throws on the table.

Nothing will ever change in Lenoir City until something changes in Lenoir City.
