Tellico Village rebuilding clubhouse at Tanasi Country Club after 2022 fire

TELLICO VILLAGE, Tenn. (WATE) — In 2022, the Tanasi Country Club’s main building was destroyed after a kitchen fire. Now just over two years later, the Tellico Village Property Owners’ Association officially broke ground on a new clubhouse.

The total cost for the new clubhouse is set to be about $11.5 million dollars. This will cover the cost of construction, insurance, parking, landscaping, design plans and more. The association added that building will have a new modern design to keep up with the times.

“It’s incredibly, great opportunity for us to capitalize on some of our weaknesses in the old building, but also get some state of the art opportunities within the new clubhouse. And we’re really excited to get the project going,” said Casey Flenniken the Director of Golf Operations.

He added, “Golf operations is as busy as we’ve ever been so, it’s going to really be a great chance for us to have a bigger golf shop space, a bigger restaurant, more indoor and outdoor seating, a bigger car storage space for our golf operations team. Overall, just a better experience for everybody.”

The team has been able to unlock the full potential of the peninsula, finding innovative ways to transform the area that the building will be on.

“One of our challenges that I found the most gratifying is taking a peninsula and figuring out how to make it work for more, because the original building was built on what they thought they had. We were able to look at this lower peninsula and develop better parking, bigger building, better space. It was significant. It was good fun,” explained Chet Pillsbury the CEO of Tellico Village POA.

Many of the residents in the community are very excited to have their hub back.

“There’s been mixed feelings. But, I think, people are generally very in favor of it. They miss having the facility here and the entertainment, the eating opportunities,” said John Orr a member of the Tellico Village POA Board of Directors.

“It was very exciting because it’s been a long time coming. We’ve all been working on this for the last two plus years. It’s been a long process, but I think the process has delivered an end result that we’re hoping meets everybody’s needs,” Orr added.

The construction is projected to take somewhere between 12 to 14 months.
