Tax Sale Results
Last Monday's Tax Sale was certainly a success. Of
the 52 properties on the sale, all but 7 were sold. The total receipts
from the sale was $321,542.00. 40 of the properties were in Tellico Village. All but 5 of those sold ranging in prices from $425.00 to $9,000.00. The highest sale price of the day was for $71,000.00 for a property in Lenoir City. Before anyone gets the idea that the county scored big on the sale, that's not how it works. Any excess proceeds from the sale of any property, goes back to the property owner or any lien holder who might have interest in the property. Excess proceeds means, any money collected above the taxes owed on the property. If no one claims the excess proceeds, that money is turned over to the state's unclaimed property department. Below is a link to the tax sale final report. |
