News Herald Arrest Report
Strawberry Plains man apprehended after hit-and-run in Lenoir City After a man reportedly fled from a hit-and-run that occurred in Loudon County, he is now facing multiple charges including driving under the influence. On Tuesday, April 23, at 5:53 p.m., Deputy Daniel Allen with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office responded to a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Lenoir City. The Lenoir City Police Department — which had been working on the hitand- run case — identified the vehicle as a maroon Honda Ridgeline pickup truck and noted that it was spotted leaving the scene of the accident. The report stated the vehicle continued traveling toward Greenback on Highway 321. Dispatch advised Allen that the vehicle had been seen parking at the Lenoir City Museum — which was indeed where he found it. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Michael Bonville of Strawberry Plains, was found standing next to the damaged car smoking a cigarette. According to the arrest report obtained by The News-Herald, Bonville admitted to being the driver that Allen was looking for and that he had left the scene. Allen also observed that Bonville had bloodshot, glassy eyes; was unstable on his feet; and had the smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Bonville agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety testing but performed poorly — and later admitted to having four shots of alcohol before driving. Based on Bonville being involved with a hit-and-run incident, his performance on standardized field sobriety testing and his own admission … Allen determined that Bonville was under the influence of a drug or intoxicant that impaired his ability to safely operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway. Bonville was then placed in custody. During a further investigation of his vehicle, an open bottle of vodka was found in an ice chest that could be easily reached from the driver’s seat (along with a bottle of mouthwash). On the passenger-side seat there was a bag with two open and empty vodka bottles. Bonville read the implied consent, agreed to give a blood sample, and was transported to Fort Loudoun Medical Center. … After the blood draw, Bonville was transported to the Loudon County Jail. Bonville was charged with driving under the influence, duty to render aid and give information, open container and was held without bond. WANTED MAN ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP After a man was reportedly pulled over for poor driving, it was revealed that he was wanted in the state of Tennessee. On Wednesday, April 24, at approximately 3:17 p.m, Deputy Charles Watson with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office observed a white Kia sedan traveling westbound on Interstate 40. The vehicle was swerving in and out of both lanes and prompted Watson to stop the vehicle. He then made contact with the driver, who was identified as 38-year-old Shea Douglass of Knoxville. The report stated that Douglass told Watson that he was texting and driving. During Watson’s investigation, he discovered Douglass to be wanted by the state of Tennessee for a parole violation. Douglass was then placed into custody without incident. While retrieving Douglass’ wallet from inside his vehicle, Watson noticed a piece of aluminum foil with what appeared to be burnt heroin. Watson performed a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a glass pipe with burnt drug residue. According to the report, Watson placed the pipe into evidence and released the vehicle to Douglass’ girlfriend at the scene.
