Speeder tries to eat marijuana stash
A Lenoir City man is facing tampering charges after
law enforcement initially observed his vehicle speeding Friday on
Highway 70.
Noticing a 2002 Dodge pickup traveling west on
Highway 70 at 66 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone, Loudon County
Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kenny Palmer stopped the vehicle on the 2000
block of Mealer Road. Palmer talked with Daniel Christopher Langley,
23, who had a “strong odor” of marijuana from his vehicle.
Palmer noticed Langley chewing something and asked
him to spit it out.
“Mr. Langley then opened his mouth and spit out a
small plastic baggy with a green leafy substance believed to be
marijuana,” Palmer wrote in his report, adding Langley said he
had a smoking pipe in his vehicle. “While searching Mr. Langley
I located a marijuana pipe in his left front pocket. I also
located a clear plastic baggy with a crystal substance believed
to be methamphetamine, and rolling papers in his wallet.”
Palmer found a pipe commonly used for smoking
meth in the vehicle. Dispatch verified Langley’s license had
been suspended.
Langley was charged with driving on a
revoked/suspended license, manufacture, sell, delivery and
resale of a Schedule II substance, possession of drug
paraphernalia, simple possession/casual exchange and
tampering/fabricating evidence and released on $36,000 bond.

Checking a warehouse in Greenback for trespassers, LCSO Deputy

it had rained that evening. He had past knowledge of items being

on the trailer with lot identification numbers on them and
returned in to the building to find several trusses missing and
the lot numbers matched the ones that (were) still in place in
the building,” Smith wrote in his report. He “also found loose
bolts on the ground where they (were) taken off the trusses
before loading them. Next to the bolts and missing trusses was a
set of trailer tracks and truck tires that matched the ones that
the trusses were found on.” John Michael Newman, 55,
