Social Media Experiment
There's no doubt that social media has changed the
way people communicate now. Anyone with a computer or a smart phone can
reach any number of people with whatever messages they want. Problem is,
that message may be right or wrong. My first inclination toward social media is to ignore it. There's no way to win an argument there and actually, there's no need to. But I've decided to do a social media experiment for a few days. The latest social media site that's on top right now is Nextdoor. It's a kin to the old TOPIX site from years ago. Basically, people can go on there and say just about anything they want with absolutely no evidence or proof to back up their statements. And inevitably, no matter what someone says, no matter how outrageous it is, there will be those who believe it. Locally, we have two or three local poster's on Nextdoor who just spout crazy stuff pertaining to local government. So for the next little while, I'm going to respond to their posts with facts that will show how off the wall they are. I'm not going to do it long, just a short while to prove the point that facts just don't matter. Of course, we're dealing with some people who believe women can be men and men can be women and men can get pregnant. So I doubt any facts will work. To render opinions is one thing, to just lie is a whole different matter. I like the meme that says, I don't want to be rude and call you stupid, so I'll just say, intelligence has been chasing you for a long time. So far you've managed to out run it. That fits well in some instances here. I'll report back on how the experiment goes. |
