Man accused of firing gun in Gray while drinking and driving
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Lenoir City man was arrested on several charges early Tuesday after deputies reported hearing gunshots in Gray.
According to a news
release from the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO),
deputies were on patrol near the Gray Community Center shortly
when they heard gunshots. Deputies spotted a white truck heading
down Gray Station Road and reportedly heard more gunshots.
The truck was stopped by deputies at a fast-food restaurant down the street. The WCSO reports five people got out of the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Rodrigo Martinez, 29, of Lenoir City, reportedly told deputies there was a gun in the truck. Rodrigo also admitted to firing the gun in the air while driving and drinking alcohol, the release states. According to the WCSO, after receiving consent to search the truck, investigators found a gun that matched the shell casings in the road. More guns were also found in the truck bed. Martinez was arrested shortly after midnight and charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence. Martinez was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and placed on a $7,000 bond. He is set to appear in court Wednesday. |
