Services Suspended?
Friday afternoon, Ken Brewster, announced that his
business, Brewster's Service Group, was suspending services as of Friday
4/21/23. In a letter to his customers, Brewster seems to indicate that
the closure was caused by the failure of some of his customers to pay
their contract obligations. Allegedly, Brewster laid off over eighty
employees Friday. The letter says "Services Suspended". See letter below. Brewster's Service Group holds millions of dollars in contracts with Lenoir City, LCUB, Loudon City and LUB. These include mowing and power line right of way clearing and tree trimming. Brewster also has had the Lenoir City, residential garbage pick up contract since April 2021. The undated letter does not specifically state which services are to be suspended, mowing, tree trimming or garbage. Back in 2008, Ken Brewster filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy for nearly two million dollars on a similar business. And according to property records, Mr. Brewster hasn't yet paid many of his 2022 property taxes. Neither city has yet announced how they will replace the services. |
