News Herald Arrest Report

Security camera helps LPD find Stolen Vehicle

On Monday November 11, around 10:21 p.m., Officer Jared Valletto with the Loudon Police Department, was notified through the Flock Safety Camera system that a stolen plate had been captured on Hwy 72.

Once the plate read was confirmed through dispatch, Officer Valletto made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who he located inside of the Weigels gas station on Hwy 72. Once contact was made, Valletto identified the driver as 30-year-old Joshua Geddings of Zephyrhills, Florida.

According to the report obtained by the News-Herald, Geddings was asked to step outside to talk about the vehicle he was driving. While speaking to Geddings, Valletto could smell a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle.

While waiting on dispatch to again confirm the stolen Florida plate, Geddings was detained and the vehicle was searched.

During the search Valletto found a joint near the center console. Law enforcement in Florida confirmed the plate was reported as stolen.

Subsequently, Geddings was placed under arrest and transported to the Loudon County Jail without further incident.

Geddings was charged with simple possession and use of a stolen plate and was held on $6,000 bond.

Soddy-Daisy man detained after trespassing at local inn

The next day on Tuesday, November 12 at around 1:22 p.m., Valletto was dispatched to the Inn of Loudon on Hwy 72 for a breaking and entering that occurred in the minutes prior.

Dispatch advised that the male reportedly left the property and was now down by the dumpsters of a nearby gas station.

Once in the area, Valletto located the male and identified him as 27-year-old Kevin Leland Broome of Soddy-Daisy. While speaking to Broome, Valletto could smell alcoholic beverages coming from Broome’s person.

After speaking to the complaint, who was a worker at the Inn of Loudon, he stated to Corporal T. Clemmer that Broome was seen in the kitchen area of the lobby, posted for “employees only,” and he attempted to use milk and cereal intended for the patrons of the motel.

The report further stated Broome allegedly said he only consumed one beer and thought he was at a different Inn.

Due to Broome’s physical state and possible danger to the public, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Loudon County Jail without further incident.

Broome was charged with criminal trespassing and public intoxication and was held on $2,500 bond.
