Search suspended
for wanted suspect in Loudon County
LOUDON
COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Loudon County Sheriff’s
Office has suspended a search for a wanted suspect in
the town of Philadelphia.A sheriff’s office spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon that deputies were searching for Thomas Fortune in the area of Pond Creek Road and McCrary Street. He is wanted on charges including felony evading arrest. K-9s were used to assist in the search.
Around 4 p.m.,
the search was suspended. Investigators believe that
he was able to leave the area and may have been
picked up in a vehicle.
There is not believed to be an active threat to the public at this time. The spokesperson said that a law enforcement presence will remain in downtown Philadelphia as the investigation continues.
As a precaution, Philadelphia Elementary School was placed on lockdown.
