While Lenoir City director of schools, Jeanne Barker, is crying poverty and asking Lenoir City residents and everyone to pay higher taxes, the school system is sitting on a mountain of cash.

At the end of the 2023 fiscal year, the school system had over $12,000,000.00 in their general fund and capitol projects fund balances. And over $18,000,000.00 in all combined fund balances. Some of those fund balances are restricted but not the general fund and capitol projects funds.

So, just think about that as you hear, please vote for a tax increase, we need more of your money.
