Safe Soccer

There's a glaring disparity in Lenoir City, TN, USA, where community resources are unevenly distributed to cater to different sports. As a concerned citizen, I consistently observe how our city spares no expense in maintaining all other sports facilities, yet our soccer players are neglected, left with no funding, and a field that is unsuitable and unsafe. The local soccer field is plagued with potholes and uneven mounds due to lack of maintenance, making it hazardous for our young players.

Moreover, the field is dangerously located next to a busy roadway with no form of barrier to prevent accidents. This lack of safety measures is disturbing and puts our children at risk every time they set foot on this field.

Furthermore, with no seating provision for spectators, it becomes challenging for parents, family members, and friends to support their young athletes during matches and training. This doesn't only affect the players but the entire community that cherishes soccer.

In a 2018 report, the Safe Kids Worldwide stated that over 1.24 million children were reported to have sports injuries from different sports activities. The uneven ground and close proximity to traffic make this field a prime location for a potential increase in this figure.

Our children and our community deserve better. We hereby call on the city officials to allocate adequate funding for the maintenance and upgrade of this soccer field. It's time for our soccer kids to have a safe and suitable piece of land to play, practice, and enhance their skills on. Create a safe, welcoming environment for soccer in Lenoir City. Please sign this petition and let our voices be heard.
