Riverfront Out
| After months of discussions and planning, the new
Courthouse Annex will not be located on the riverfront property that had
been offered to the county by Loudon City. Come to find out, that land
has some serious contamination problems from when the old chair factory
was demolished years ago.
So now the county will need to find another location for the new facility. There are several options, from the courthouse lawn, to some of the Hutch property being cleared now, even down to Center 75 Business Park on Hwy 72. Probably the most logical location would be behind and adjacent to the Justice Center. That location would solve all the logistical problems of transporting prisoners back and forth to court and have all the courts in close proximity. I'm sure we'll kill another six months deciding where to go next. |
