Reckless driver
arrested after chase
An Alcoa man was arrested Friday after leading
officers on a lengthy vehicle chase.
Loudon County Sheriffs Office deputies, including Corp. Zachary Frye, received word of an active pursuit out of Cumberland County late Thursday night. Frye and other deputies stationed themselves on the freeway to intercept the driver, who they were told was speeding in excess of 100 mph. When the vehicle came into sight, the driver swerved into the exit lane before rejoining the freeway and nearly striking the patrol vehicles of Frye and another deputy. Frye gave chase as Cumberland County units ended their pursuit. The chase continued through Knox and Blount counties until the car eventually wrecked in Alcoa. When Frye reached the vehicle, however, the driver had fled on foot.
Blount
County units used a K9 to track the driver
and eventually detained a man matching the
description originally given by Cumberland
County officers.
The identity of Javis Montell Dean, 38, was confirmed by a credit card with his name on it found inside the wrecked vehicle, and officers then learned his license had been revoked for a previous DUI.
