If you get in office in Lenoir City, it pays pretty good.

If by chance you were to get elected to mayor, you would have a salary of $73,400.00 and a $5,000.00 car allowance. And as mayor, you are chairman of the Lenoir City Utilities Board. That comes with another annual $5,400.00 stipend and another $3,400.00 car allowance. Plus full family health insurance ($14,000.00) and retirement.  Let's see, naught goes into naught, plus naught, naught, goes into..... better than a hundred grand, not including retirement?

If you were to get elected to city council. you would receive an annual stipend of $7,200.00. Plus you are automatically a member of the LCUB board which comes with another annual $4,800.00 stipend, at least $3,600.00 in travel expenses, family health insurance ($14,000.00) plus full retirement. Let's see, naught goes into naught, plus naught, naught, goes into..... better than 30k not including retirement.

If you wanted to get elected to the Treasurer/Recorder office, you'd receive a salary of $73,000.00 plus insurance and benefits.  For this office, you don't even have to live in the city.

I'm not saying anybody in elected office is a crook, far from it. I just don't understand why nobody new ever runs for office in Lenoir City when it's obviously so lucrative.
