News Herald Arrest Report
Police nab man in woods for
kidnapping
A
Madisonville man is facing felony charges after hiding in
the woods from law enforcement.
A woman called 911 at 9:50 p.m. July 6 to report her daughter was being held against her will near National Campground Road by Sammy J. Stillwell, 40. Loudon County Sheriffs Office Sgt. Matthew Fagiana and Deputy Brandon Dishner arrived at the address and found the daughter, LCSO Lt. Det. Charlie Cosner wrote in a report. She told officers she had been at a campsite with Stillwell since July 4. When she told Stillwell she had to leave July 6, he became angry and took her keys and cellphone to keep her from leaving or contacting anyone for help.
The woman said
Stillwell continued to argue and threaten her after
taking her belongings.
When officers
arrived at the campsite, Stillwell fled into nearby
woods. He was found later that evening by the LCSO K-9
team and taken into custody.
Stillwell was
charged with kidnapping and resisting arrest and held
without bond.
Man makes threats
Deputies arrested
a Lenoir City man for domestic assault July 6 after he
threatened to kill himself.
LCSO Deputy
Christian Rogers responded at 12:30 a.m. to a home on
Pawpaw Plains Road. He met a woman who said Michael
George Tapp Jr., 31, was upset and threatening to kill
himself with a steak knife.
Tapp and the woman
had an argument earlier in the evening that led to a
physical altercation. Tapp had pushed the woman into the
pantry and caused bleeding on the back of her head. He
then ran outside, claiming he was done and was going to
kill himself, Rogers wrote in a report.
Tapp was not at
the scene when Rogers arrived but later walked into the
home as Rogers and other deputies were clearing the
dwelling. Rogers asked Tapp to give his side of the
story, and he responded, It was just another night.
Rogers took Tapp
into custody for domestic assault. On the way to the
jail, Tapp said, You think she was bad tonight, just
wait till I get back to the house, according to a
report.
Tapp was charged
with domestic assault-misdemeanor and released on $1,500
bond.
