Police bust ‘one-pot’ meth lab

A Lenoir City man was charged with methamphetamine production and possession of drug paraphernalia after police conducted a search warrant last week at a home in the 300 block of Clarke Road.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit personnel, along with the Ninth Judicial Drug Task Force, found used coffee filters at the residence that were utilized to “siphon off a ‘one-pot’ to remove discarded chemicals from the cooking process ...” according to the arrest report.

The lab was located at the home of Christopher Lee Raper, 46, Lenoir City, according to deputies.

Officers also found multiple empty boxes of pseudoephedrine, empty blister packs, two broken batteries with the lithium removed, an empty bottle of fuel, burned tin foil and hypodermic needles located in garbage in back of the home, LCSO Inv. Shane Ezell wrote in the report.

Other items, including a clear plastic baggie containing ammonium nitrate, a set of digital scales, an empty pseudoephedrine box and coffee filters were located in Raper’s bedroom.

Raper was charged with promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $13,500 bond.

This marks the second meth house bust in the last two weeks in Lenoir City. Christopher Eugene Hicks, 45, Lenoir City, was arrested Jan. 9 on multiple charges related to the manufacture of meth at a residence in the 3600 block of Mountain View Road. John Robert Lee, 22, Lenoir City, and Brandon James Clemmer, 27, homeless, were charged as co-conspirators in the operation.

“Those two were just related to each other,” Ezell said about the recent meth busts during a followup interview, noting that evidence from the previous arrest led investigators to the other home.

“That was part of an ongoing investigation that tied in to the search warrant we (performed) the Friday before” at the Mountain View Road location, Ezell said.
