News Herald Arrest Report
Philadelphia man charged with
assault A Philadelphia man remains in jail after a woman and her 6-year-old son were hit with a piece of lumber. Dispatched to an assault call in the 900 block of New Hope Road, Loudon County Sheriffs Office Deputy Kenny Palmer talked with a woman who said she allowed her sister and daughter to stay at her residence but Joshua Alan Rogers, 29, Philadelphia, could not. That previous conversation started an argument, and Rogers went outside the residence and came back with a 2-inch by 2-inch piece of wood, according to the report. The woman grabbed a baseball bat to defend herself. (The woman) stated that Mr. Rogers hit her with the (wood) and at some point her 6-year-old son was hit ..., Palmer wrote. (The woman) stated that Mr. Rogers then took the bat from her and started busting out windows in the front of the residence along with a flat screen TV. Rogers then left the residence.
I observed (the woman) and her son had marks on their chests
consistent with being hit ..., Palmer wrote. Once Rogers came out
of the woods, he said he did not hit anyone but did take the bat.
Rogers was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated child abuse
and neglect and vandalism and held on $45,000 bond.
