Official Numbers
We now have the official, new certified property tax
rates from the state. All three entities, Loudon County, Lenoir City and
Loudon City's property tax rates went way down. Loudon County's new certified tax rate went from $1.8035 per $100.00 of assessed value down to $1.5183 per $100.00 of assessed value, a nearly twenty nine cent reduction in the rate. The county does intend to adopt the new, lower certified tax rate. Loudon City's new certified tax rate went from $1.2367 per $100.00 of assessed value down to $1.0993 per $100.00 of assessed value, a nearly fourteen cent reeducation in the rate. Loudon City officials do intend to adopt the new, lower certified tax rate. We already know what Lenoir City officials intend to do, they are going to raise their property taxes, by fourteen cents. Lenoir City's new certified tax rate went from $0.9955 per $100.00 of assessed value down to $0.8530 per $100.00 of assessed value. But heaven forbid they pass the lower tax rate on to the property owners. At least two out of three of local governments are acting honestly on behalf of their residents. Unfortunately Lenoir City officials could care less about theirs. |
