Officers chase truck on Tellico Parkway

A Knoxville man is facing multiple charges after law enforcement responded to a call June 14 of a reckless driver on Highway 444.

Observing a white Ford F-150 move erratically, crossing over the center line and nearly striking another vehicle on Tellico Parkway near Highway 72 heading toward Lenoir City, Agent Brendan DeBoer initiated his emergency equipment attempting to conduct a traffic stop. In his report, DeBoer notes the driver failed to yield and increased his speed to 80 miles per hour.

“While driving at this speed the vehicle continued to cross the center line nearly striking several vehicles head on,” DeBoer wrote in his report. “During the pursuit of this vehicle the driver was seen throwing items out the drivers window that appeared to be plastic bags."

Additional officers deployed several sets of spike strips and were successful in safely deflating the front passenger side tire and the vehicle came to a stop on Highway 321 near St. Thomas Way.

The driver, identified as Eddie Dewayne Queen, 47, refused to exit the vehicle and was helped by officers. Searching the vehicle resulted in finding “several” plastic bags that had marijuana residue, a bag with 1 gram of marijuana and a digital scale, according to DeBoer’s report. Queen said he threw “several” plastic bags of marijuana out during pursuit, and officers discovered at least one bag.

Queen was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, tampering/fabricating with evidence, manufacture, sell or possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked/suspended license and reckless endangerment and released on $76,000 bond.
