Office celebrates birthday of fa

LOUDON CO., Tenn. (WVLT) - The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the birthday of one of their K-9s.

K-9 Deja turned 11 years old on Wednesday. She was partnered with Loudon Co. Sgt. Chris Jenkins.

Sgt. Jenkins was killed when a tractor-trailer driver failed to slow for a rolling barricade on I-75 in February of 2022. Jenkins was out of his vehicle at the time removing a ladder from the interstate when the driver, under the influence of marijuana, struck two other vehicles and Jenkins himself.

Less than a month later, Jenkins' son, Clay Jenkins, began riding with Deja and later got his K-9 certification.

The pair has already been involved in multiple major cases including a drug bust recovering more than 100 pounds of narcotics.
