November Update 8/15
The ballot for the November election is filling out.
In Lenoir City, all six council candidates have now qualified to be on the ballot. On a side note on the Lenoir City School Board election, August was just a primary election. The two winners, Lacy Murry and Chris Clabough, won the primary. However, their names will also appear on the November ballot. Both should be uncontested races since there were no democrats on the ballot. But there's always the outside chance a write in candidate could qualify to run against one or the other of them. Even given the historical implausibility of a write in candidate's chances to win, it's still a possibility. The two new BOE members will be able to take office after the November election. The Loudon City council and mayor's race is taking shape. Councilwoman, Tammy Bivens has qualified to challenge incumbent mayor, Jeff Harris. The council race is really going to be a slugfest. There are two seats for a four year term and two seats for a two year term. So far, three candidates have qualified for the two four year seats with three others having picked petitions, not including Bivens. Three have also qualified for the two year seat with four others having picked petitions, Not including Eric Newman who has qualified for the four year seat. Greenback is pretty calm. Current mayor, Dewayne Birchfield is the only one to qualify for mayor so far. three of the four incumbent aldermen have qualified or picked petitions. All four seats are on the ballot. The deadline to qualify for the November election is this Thursday, August 18, 2022, 12:00 NOON.
