| In a major update to the Lenoir City council
election, long time Loudon County commissioner, Earlena Maples, has
picked up a qualifying petition to run for Lenoir City council. Ms.
Maples who served on the county commission for 32 years, recently lost
her bid for re-election by just 28 votes. This created a unique
situation for Ms. Maples, where there was still time to qualify for the
city election.
Loudon County's loss could be Lenoir City's gain.
Looks like long time Greenback mayor, Tom Peeler, may
have competition. Former Greenback alderman, Walter Burchfield, has
picked up a petition to run for mayor.

returned their petitions and qualified. See below.
