November Petition Updates
With 15 days left for candidates to qualify, a few
more potential candidates have picked up qualifying petitions.
In Greenback, so far, only two incumbents have qualified to seek re-election. Incumbent Alderman, Derrick Doehler told me that he was only planning to run for mayor if incumbent mayor, Dewayne Birchfield does not run. The Lenoir City race remains the same, no challengers have qualified to challenge any of the incumbents. Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, who is probably the least liked elected official in the county, has no challenger. The three incumbents running for re-election, have no challengers. This is surprising given the anger of the vast majority of city residents in the way all the incumbents have been running the city, over development, taxes and such. However, if Tony and his cronies all go back into office, city residents can expect the destruction of the city to kick into overdrive. What we've seen for the last four years is peanuts to what we'll see in the next four years. In Loudon, only one of the two incumbents, Eric Newman, has qualified to seek re-election. However, two challengers have already qualified. There are only two council seats on the ballot this election. In Philadelphia, several family members have qualified of picked up petitions, including, husband and wife incumbents Damian and Cindy Crawford, mother and son, April and William Miller and father and daughter, Dewayne and Macy Presley. Candidates have until noon August 15 to qualify for any of the positions below.
