Not My Fault

I understand the current incumbent Lenoir City candidates aren't not happy with me right now. Apparently, reporting on the mayor and council members votes and actions makes them angry? That's not my fault. Just imagine, elected officials getting upset because someone points out their voting records.

They have accused me of recruiting, supporting and funding their opponents. Not a word of truth to that. All the incumbents have long, disturbing voting records or in the case of the mayor who doesn't vote, supporting policies contrary to what Lenoir City voters want. They can't hide from their records.

What are the platform's of the incumbents? Are they promising to change their ways if re-elected? Will they stop raising taxes every two or three years? Will they repeal the Rain Tax? Will they put a moratorium on all high density, residential development until they can review their zoning regulations? I read through all their campaign information and it doesn't appear they have any intentions of changing anything if re-elected. In fact, we should probably expect more of the same, maybe worse. I've heard the mayor and the council members all say how great things are in the city. Any reason to expect them to change?

What would be in their voting record and actions that would make them mad if reported?

  • Voted for and supported a sales tax increase in 2024
  • Refuses to pay their 911 bill
  • Voted for and supported a 17% property tax increase in 2021
  • Voted and supported two illegal annexations, 2020, 2023, costing the city and county hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Ongoing
  • Voted for and supported a sales tax increase in 2018
  • Voted for mayor Aikens 1000% pay increase. (Wampler was not on council when this one passed)
  • Voted and supported every mass development in the city
  • Voted and supported millions of dollars in tax breaks for residential and commercial developments
  • Voted and supported to illegally give away city property to a business that bought the adjoining property from Aikens and Jim Wilburn

These are just a few of the more recent and detrimental actions by Tony Aikens, Mike Henline, Jennifer Wampler and Eddie Simpson, there are many more.

Nothing will ever change in Lenoir City until something changes in Lenoir City.
