No Campers
Most probably don't know that it's against county
codes to live in a camper or RV in Loudon County. The only exceptions
are within a qualified camper/RV park or with approval from the Loudon
County Board of Zoning Appeals for temporary occupancy while
constructing a new home or medical hardship, usually for up to twelve
months.
This issue comes up somewhat often when someone files a complaint with county codes enforcement. When a complaint comes in, codes will investigate and if they do find a violation, the property owner will be notified and instructed to correct the violation. The no camper/RV rule has been on the books since the early 70's when the county adopted zoning. It might seem odd that a person can't live in a camper/RV on their own land if they wanted to but the logic being, before long, there would be campers/RV's everywhere even as rental property. Hopefully, this can help get the word out so people won't unknowingly find themselves in violation of county codes. |
