Niota man charged with assault, drugs
A Niota man was taken to Loudon County Jail over the weekend on drug and assault charges after law enforcement was called to a domestic dispute in the 900 block of Spring Street.
Responding to the call Saturday afternoon, Loudon County Sheriff's Office Deputy J.C. Schultz spoke with a woman, who told deputies that she and her boyfriend, Jeremiah Jason Hightshoe, 36, Niota, went out to get some food and returned to the residence, according to the arrest report. The woman and another man were sitting on a bed eating and told Hightshoe to leave, Schultz wrote in the report.
"Mr. Hightshoe knocked on the bedroom window and
told (the woman) 'to get your ass outside' and had a
machete," Schultz wrote. "(The woman) asked Mr.
Hightshoe to leave and told him that she would call
him. Mr. Hightshoe broke out the window and
threatened to cut (the woman's) throat."
The woman said Hightshoe sometimes "flips out" and
had threatened her in the past, according to
Schultz.
While retrieving the machete, which was located in a
Honda Osyssey van, Schultz found a glass pipe with
residue lying on the floor, according to the report.
Schultz also found 1.7 grams of a substance that
tested positive for methamphetamine in the vehicle
and an unidentified brown powder that weighed 0.7
grams, according to the report. Police also located
two other glass pipes and a propane torch.
Inside the residence, police found three metal pipes
with marijuana residue on the other man's bed,
according to the report.
Hightshoe was charged with domestic assault,
possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug
paraphernalia and held without bond.
Man arrested in dispute with
grandmother
A Loudon man is facing numerous charges related to
stolen cash and a vehicle theft stemming from a
domestic disturbance with his grandmother at a
residence on Poplar Springs Road.
Responding to a call of a vehicle theft, LCSO Deputy
Kenny Palmer spoke with a woman, who said her
grandson, Bevan Hunter Thompson, 23, Loudon, wanted
her to give him some money, and he became upset when
she told him she was not going to give him money,
according to the arrest report.
The woman told police that Thompson threw and
smashed her phone on the ground and doused water on
her office computer, Palmer wrote. Thompson then
left the residence, came back and continued asking
for money.
When she refused the request, Thompson "grabbed her
by the arm and started twisting," according to the
report. Thompson then grabbed her by the neck, put
her in a headlock and pushed the woman onto the bed,
Palmer wrote. Thompson then got her purse and went
outside.
"(The woman) stated that he then came back inside
with her purse and told her he didn't mean for it to
go down this way," Palmer wrote.
About $130 was missing from the woman's purse, and
Thompson took her Toyota Prius without her
permission.
Thompson was charged with domestic
assault-misdemeanor, robbery, theft of property
between $10,000-$60,000 and theft of property less
than $500 and held without bond.
