Niles First
For the first time in the six-teen years she's been
in office, court clerk, Lisa Niles, didn't sue or threaten to sue the
Loudon County tax payers for more money in her budgets. Till now, Ms. Niles has sued or threatened to sue the tax payers every four years just after she was re-elected. 2014 was the year county commission finally said enough was enough. Believe it or not, the suit she filed back in September 2014 has still not been completely settled. The outcome of the disputed $50,000.00 that was heard by the Tennessee Court Of Appeals back in February of has still not been ruled on. The out come of her suit against the county saw her cost the tax payers more than $200,000.00 in legal fees yet gain far less than she demanded in her original law suit. By putting their foot down to Niles ridiculous threats and suits, county commission saved the tax payers nearly a million dollars. It's unfortunate that Loudon County has an elected official like Ms. Niles, but as the old saying goes, there's one in every crowd. Below is the history of Niles. Ms. Niles was elected to office in 2002. Immediately after being re-elected in 2006, she threatened to sue the tax payers. A settlement was reached by the commission by giving her more people. Immediately after being re-elected in 2010, she threatened to sue the tax payers. A settlement was reached by the commission by giving her more people. Immediately after being re-elected in 2014, she threatened to sue the tax payers. This time the commission said enough. So Ms. Niles sued the tax payers. Outcome still pending |
