News Herald Arrest Report
Man arrested after selling
stolen ring
A
Lenoir City man was arrested Dec. 30 after selling a stolen
ring at a Cash for Gold store.
The
ring was one of several items of jewelry, totaling over
$30,000, taken Nov. 17 from a Loudon residence.
After
originally investigating the theft when reported Nov. 30,
Loudon County Sheriffs Office Sgt. Kevin Kirkland noticed
the sale Dec. 28 while using LeadsOnline. The victim
confirmed the ring was the one that had been stolen and
purchased it back from the store.
Colin Jay Winters, 40, sold the ring to the store. He was identified as an employee of a window cleaning company that the homeowner hired Nov. 17. As part of the job, Winters had access to the master bedroom where the jewelry had been located.
Winters was
charged with theft of property and released on $10,000
bond.
Dispute leads to arrest
A Lenoir City man
is facing two assault charges after a dispute with a
former employer.
Loudon County
Sheriffs Office Deputy Teddy Scarbrough responded to a
call Jan. 5 by a man who was in an argument with
Fransisco Antonio Ruiz Antunez, a former employee. The
man said Ruiz Antunez threatened him with an air gun
while asking for money he believed he was owed and later
picked up a hammer.
The man said Ruiz
Antunez attempted to knock a phone out of the mans hand
to prevent him from calling law enforcement.
A witness said he
saw Ruiz Antunez threaten the man with the hammer and
draw it back as if to strike him. The man had previously
filed a report with Lenoir City Police Department on
Jan. 1 claiming Ruiz Antunez had threatened him.
Ruiz Antunez was
charged with aggravated assault and domestic assault and
held on $12,000 bond.
