New Chiefs

From The Loudon Police Department

Yesterday evening The Loudon Police Department had the honor of watching our new Deputy Police Chief, Samuel Broady Harrison being sworn in.

We want to share a story about how Sam came to be an employee of the Loudon Police Dept.

On March 12th, 2004 Loudon County experienced a tragedy when a beloved Loudon County Sheriff’s Department Deputy lost his life as a result of a gunshot sustained when responding to a domestic violence situation. A lengthy standoff with the perpetrator ensued. Although that incident happened outside of our jurisdiction when something of that nature happens the entire Law Enforcement family responds.

At the time, Sam worked for a different non-local agency. He stood shoulder to shoulder with Officers from multiple local agencies in an attempt to help in any way he could. During these types of traumatic incidents, you learn more about someone’s character than you could ever learn in a thousand interviews or a hundred different leadership classes.

After that incident was concluded, all our officers agreed that Samuel Broady Harrison should be a part of the Loudon County Law Enforcement family. We had learned first-hand what he was made of and we wanted him to be part of our team.

As chance would have it. During the same general time frame, The Loudon Police Department found itself with an open position. Many of the Loudon Officers went to the administration and expressed their desire to have Sam come to work with us. You see, The Loudon Police Department usually had people lined up seeking a position. This time was different. We wanted Sam!

Sam had a job with an agency that likely had better pay and benefits, but luckily, it didn’t take too much persuasion to get him to join our family. He shared our desire to ensure that his and our hometown (Loudon) continued to be one of the best places in America to live and raise a family.

Sam has proven himself time and time again to be a true Leader by always putting the needs of others in front of his own. He is a dedicated public servant, not only at the Loudon Police Department but also through his commitment to High School Sports in the Loudon area. Sam is also a wonderful Father, Husband, and Son which we think speaks volumes about his character and is one of the highest compliments we can pay him.

The Loudon Police Department made the right decision in 2004, and we think we have also made the right decision by putting Sam into this leadership position within our Department.

Please help us in congratulating CHIEF Sam Harrison on his new position.

From The Loudon Fire Department

On November 16, 2022 a formal promotion ceremony was held for the promotion of Bill Geames to Deputy Fire Chief.

Bill joined Loudon Fire Department in 2000 as a volunteer firefighter and was quickly moved to a part-time firefighter.

He was promoted to a full-time firefighter in January of 2005. He was then promoted to Captain in August of 2015. He holds the highest level of fire certifications the State of Tennessee offers, as well as numerous specialty certifications. He is an advanced EMT and hazardous materials technician. He is a precious 2-time winner of the Loudon Fire Departments firefighter of the year award and has won the county, region and state VFW firefighter of the year award in 2018.

During the ceremony Deputy Chief Geames’ family placed his new badge on his uniform which bears his new radio number 802. This was the radio number of Captain Steve Johnson who passed away In 2010, at which time the number was retired. After much thought and consideration and out of respect for Captain Johnson it was deternined to un-retire this number. With this new deputy chief position and the fact that Bill was a close friend of Steve we felt it was the perfect time to again hear 802.

Congratulations Deputy Chief Bill Geames.

We look forward to the great things you will do.
