News Herald Arrest Report
Nashville man involved in
high-speed chase A Nashville man was arrested Monday after fleeing from law enforcement at speeds up to 100 mph. Responding to a call of a shoplifter trying to leave a retail store off U.S. Highway 321, Loudon County Sheriff's Office Deputy Brad Rayfield spotted the vehicle heading south toward Interstate 75. Rayfield noted the vehicle got into the left turn lane as if going onto Adesa Drive. Once behind the vehicle, Rayfield noted the driver took off at a high rate of speed and cut across three lanes of traffic forcing several cars to dodge him. Rayfield noted the vehicle wouldnt stop even after he activated his blue lights and siren. The car turned right onto northbound I-75 and didnt stop. This officer pursued the vehicle at speeds from 65 mph to 85 mph all the way to the I-75/40 split, where the vehicle made a last-minute decision to swerve left onto I-40 west, Rayfield wrote in his report, noting speeds reached 100 mph at one point and Rayfield eventually stopped pursuing at the Loudon-Roane county line.
Soon thereafter, Tennessee
Highway Patrol advised two
people were in custody at a gas
station off Gallagher Road in
Roane County.
When asked why Jonah Wendell
Phillips, 30, ran, he said he
was scared. Phillips had three
active warrants out of Davidson
County.
Phillips was charged with theft
of property, evading arrest,
reckless endangerment and
driving on a revoked/suspended
license and held on $34,000
bond.

A Ten Mile man is facing
multiple charges, including
resisting arrest and evading
arrest, after dispatch informed
local law enforcement that
Monroe County Sheriffs Office
was in pursuit of him on Highway
11 in Philadelphia heading
toward Loudon.
Dispatch told local law
enforcement that Edward Neal
Keyt, 52, Ten Mile, was wanted
on felony warrants for drug and
firearm offenses and LCSO Cpl.
Rondel Branam joined pursuit.
Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider
attempted to stop the driver at

and 72 by activating emergency
equipment, but Keyt did not stop
and turned on Highway 72 toward

Contact was lost with the
vehicle and Mr. Keyt near

to the speeds that Mr. Keyt was
traveling, Branam wrote in his

by LCSO K9 Dante, who found Keyt
