Mrs. Bledsoe Passes

Mrs. Bledsoe was the wife of the late Roy Bledsoe who served on Loudon County commission for 48 years.

Sarah Katheryne (Watkins) Bledsoe, age 81 of Philadelphia, TN passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024. Sarah was a lifelong resident of Loudon County born to James Paul and Blanche Agnes (Johnson) Watkins. Sarah was an educator with 32 years of service as an English teacher leaving a lasting impact on a multitude of students in the Loudon County School System.

She along with her husband Roy were very active in Loudon County Republican politics. She served as Past Chairman of the Loudon County Republican Party and the Loudon County Republican Women. She was honored to be a member of the initial group of people inducted into the Loudon County Republican Hall of Fame.

Sarah was a member of First Baptist Church in Philadelphia where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Sarah was a strong, passionate woman who loved being involved and would be so happy to brag on the latest accomplishment concerning her daughter or her grandchildren.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Hope Bledsoe, their infant son, James Roy Bledsoe and sister, Linda Winstead.
Survivors include her daughter, Hope Bledsoe Fritts; grandchildren, Cole and wife, Hollie Fritts, Will Fritts and fiancé, Sarah Harper and Abbi Fritts; sister and brothers in-law, Rebecca and David Brewster and John Winstead, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services honoring and remembering Sarah Bledsoe will be held 7:00 PM Saturday, June 29th at First Baptist Church, Philadelphia with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. If you desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 45, Philadelphia, TN 37846.

The family will meet 1:30 PM Sunday, June 30th at Westview Cemetery, Sweetwater for an interment service. The family will greet friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at First Baptist Church, 606 Church St. Philadelphia, TN.
