Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash

wbir.com-A hit-and-run crash killed a Loudon County man on his motorcycle Sunday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 44-year-old Harold Wood was driving his motorcyle east down State Highway 72 when another vehicle -- believed to be a semi-heavy-type truck -- tried to cross into his lane to get onto the I-75 southbound ramp.

Wood tried to swerve into the right lane to avoid getting hit when he lost control and slid underneath the other vehicle. The truck driver then ran over Wood before driving off. Authorities say Wood was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

Authorities are investigating to try and find the driver of the other vehicle.

Wood's family was notified about the incident.
