More Deregulation
At the last county commission meeting, commissioners
voted to eliminate a few more zoning regulations. Under the old
regulations, a property owner could not build any accessory structure in
their front yard without betting permission from the Board Of Zoning
Appeals, BZA. An accessory structure is like a garage a carport, a shed
or any kind of a stand alone building. Under the new rules, if your
property is zoned A-1 or A-2 and you have at least 3 acres, you can have
a front yard accessory structure without getting permission from the BZA.
The new structure would have to meet all current property setbacks.
Another big change approved was to eliminate building permits for any accessory structures of 500 sq. ft. or less. The new structure would have to meet all current property setbacks. The Planning And Zoning Study Committee will be meeting twice a month for at least the next six months to review all zoning regulations to see if more changes are needed. |
