Moratorium Amendment 2
| At last week's Lenoir City council meeting, council
did pass the amendment to the apartment moratorium. The amendment
purports to add additional restrictions to the moratorium for any
projects that haven't already met certain requirements. The moratorium
was passed back in June and was to be in place at least 12 months but
could be extended. It's unclear why the moratorium needed the
amendments.
To be clear, the moratorium is only on apartments/multifamily developments. It does not extend to R-3, high density single family developments. Meaning a DR Horton or other like developer could still build hundreds of homes unrestricted. Below is a link to the moratorium amendment resolution. |
