Missing Greene Co. woman found dead in Loudon Co.
GREENE
COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Greene County woman reported missing more than
a week ago has been found dead in Loudon County, TN, the victim of a
car crash.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office found the body of Diana Guzman,
20, just after 3pm Saturday.
Detective Michelle Holt told News Channel 11 a TDOT worker found a
wallet alongside Interstate 40 at the Interstate 75 interchange on
Friday and turned it in to TDOT officials.
Saturday morning, the TDOT employee saw a news report about the
search for Diana Guzman and recognized the name from the wallet
found Friday.
“The TDOT employee called the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, so I
went to Loudon County and met him where the wallet was found,”
Detective Holt said.
Holt found Guzman’s car off an embankment in a heavily wooded area.
Guzman’s body was found at the scene of the crash.
“Her wallet must have fallen out of the car as it ran off the road,”
Holt said.
The grim discovery ended a search that began last Friday night when
Guzman’s family reported her missing.
The last anyone saw Guzman was at her home in Chuckey, TN on
Wednesday, August 10th. Her cell
phone was last detected early the next morning.
Investigators believe Guzman as traveling to Loudon County to visit
her boyfriend, but she never arrived.
Her family, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and the TBI searched
for Guzman for more than a week.
