March Numbers
After every election, it's kind of fun to look at
some of the numbers from the election. In 2016, 12,492 voted in the March primary election. This election, 9,756 voted. In this election, 6,293 voted republican and 3,329 voted democrat. In 2016, 10,433 voted republican and 1,695 voted democrat. In 2012 when Obama was running for re-election, 312 dems voted him. In the only local contested race, Steve Harrelson won pretty big with a 70% to 30% margin over Mike Newman. Harrelson Carried 13 out of the 15 precincts. President Trump carried every precinct in the county with a 95-98% margin, gaining the largest vote for an incumbent running for re-election ever. Sleepy Joe Biden carried Loudon County over all but lost in three precincts. Both the Lenoir City precincts went to Crazy Bernie Sanders and the Luttrell precinct went to Little Mike Bloomberg with 6 votes. But hey, only 20 people voted democrat down in Luttrell. Curiously, Bloomberg carried Loudon County by a wide margin during early voting. Biden carried the county by a wider margin in day of voting. There were some worrisome numbers. Tellico Village precincts had nearly 1,110 democrat voters and the 5th district, Browder and Eatons, had 665. Overall, county wide the dem vote doubled from 2016 to 2020. That's a big increase in dem voters from four years ago. I know there was an "operation chaos" going on, for republicans to cross over to vote for the worst democrat, but I don't know how many republicans would actually do that. Hopefully that accounts for at least some of the democrat increase. On to August |
