March Election Information
The next election will be
March 5 (Tuesday), 2024. This election will be a presidential primary
election. There will also be several local elections on the ballot.
County commission 5th district seat (A) unexpired term, county school board, odd districts, 1st district seat (A) and (B), 3rd district, 5th district seat (A) and (B) and 7th district. Last November, long time Loudon County commissioner, Harold Duff, passed away leaving seat (A) vacant. In December, county commission appointed Joe Morrison to fill the vacant seat. That appointment was until the next county election. That next election will be the Loudon County Republican/Democrat primary on March 5th, 2024. Joe has now been on commission eleven months and has already been through one budget adoption process and has shown a very conservative stand on many votes. Not only did commissioner Morrison vote for a very conservative budget, he is 100% supportive of the county commission's continued efforts to bring managed, controlled growth to the county. I absolutely support commissioner Morrison's campaign to fill the seat. No doubt, the realtors and home builders associations will be after the seat again as they were in the 2022 election. And you can bet Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, will have a hand picked candidate running for the seat. He desperately wants to control Loudon County commission like he does his city council. 5th district county commission seat (A), unexpired term, so far has two candidates. Incumbent Joe Morrison has already qualified to run. 5th district resident, Marty Fugate, has also picked up a qualifying petition for the seat. In the 1st district, incumbent school board members Kenny Ridings, seat (A) and Scott Newman, seat (B) have both picked up qualifying petitions to seek re-election. 3rd district school board incumbent, Phil Moffit, has decided not to run for re-election. 3rd district residents Andy Disney and Elijah McNabb have picked up qualifying petitions for that seat. Both incumbent 5th district board members, Melissa Browder seat (A) and Lisa Harvey seat (B) have picked up qualifying petitions to seek re-election. 7th district BOE member, Ken Presley has also picked a qualifying petition to run for re-election. The only county wide race on the ballot will be Loudon County Property Assessor. Incumbent assessor, Mike Campbell has already qualified to seek re-election. Any candidate wishing to run for any of the local offices have until December 14, 2023, 12:00 Noon to qualify. Below are a few of the candidate announcements
