March 5th Election
The local ballot is set for the March 5th election.
Besides the local elections, this will also be the presidential
preference primary election, so the turnout should be pretty high. In the local election, there will be three contested races. The big one will be the race for 5th district, county commission seat (A) . Current incumbent Joe Morrison (R) is running for the seat. He is being challenged by Marty Fugate (R). Joe Morrison has served on commission since the death of commissioner, Harold Duff. Morrison was appointed to fill the unexpired term of commissioner Duff in in December 2022. Marty Fugate is a local Lenoir City businessman. Fugate ran for the position of Loudon County Court Clerk back in 2018, but lost to Carrie McKelvey. In the 3rd district Loudon County School Board race, incumbent, Phil Moffit, decided not to run for re-election leaving the seat open. Two candidates are seeking to fill that seat. Andrew Disney (R) and Greg Everett (R) have both qualified to run for the seat. Andrew Disney is a Loudon City fireman. Greg Everett is a former Marine and an optometrist. In the Loudon County School Board 5th district seat (A), incumbent Melissa Browder (R) is running for re-election. She is being challenged by democrat Dr. Jan Haun (D). Both candidate will appear on the March Ballot, unopposed in their respective primary elections. They will face each other in the August county general election. In a while, I will post a page dedicated to the upcoming election. If candidates will send me their information, social media page links or whatever they want, I will post on the election page. Every election matters, know the candidates, make the right choices.
